What Are The Commonly Used Materials for Sheet Metal Processing

What are the commonly used materials for sheet metal processing?

1. Galvanized Steel Sheet (SECC)

SECC uses standard cold-rolled steel coil as the base material. After degreasing, pickling, electroplating, and various post-treatment processes on a continuous electrogalvanizing line, it becomes an electrogalvanized product. SECC not only possesses the mechanical properties and similar workability of standard cold-rolled steel sheet, but also offers superior corrosion resistance and a decorative appearance. It is highly competitive and a viable alternative in the electronics, home appliance, and furniture markets. For example, computer cases are commonly made of SECC.

2. Standard Cold-Rolled Steel Sheet (SPCC)

SPCC is steel ingot continuously rolled into coils or sheets of the required thickness on a cold rolling mill. SPCC has no surface protection and is easily oxidized when exposed to air. This oxidation rate is particularly accelerated in humid environments, resulting in the development of dark red rust. Therefore, the surface must be painted, electroplated, or otherwise protected before use.

3. Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel (SGCC)

Hot-dip galvanized steel coils are made by cleaning, annealing, and immersing the semi-finished product, hot-rolled, pickled, or cold-rolled, in a molten zinc bath at approximately 460°C to coat the steel with a zinc layer. The steel is then tempered, leveled, and chemically treated. SGCC is harder and less ductile than SECC (Seccd) steel (preventing deep drawing), has a thicker zinc layer, and exhibits poor weldability.

4. SUS304 Stainless Steel

One of the most widely used stainless steels, it contains nickel (nickel), making it more corrosion-resistant and heat-resistant than steels containing chromium (chromium). It possesses excellent mechanical properties, exhibits no heat-hardening, and lacks elasticity.

5. SUS301 Stainless Steel

It has a lower chromium (chromium) content than SUS304 and exhibits lower corrosion resistance. However, through cold working, it can achieve excellent tensile strength and hardness during stamping, resulting in excellent elasticity. It is often used in leaf springs and EMI shielding.
