The main features of CNC machining.

CNC machine tools selected aircraft parts with complex surfaces as the processing objects from the beginning, solving the key problem that ordinary machining methods are difficult to solve. The biggest feature of CNC machining is to use punched tape (or magnetic tape) to control the machine tool for automatic machining.

Process concentration

CNC machine tools generally have tool holders and tool magazines that can automatically change tools. The tool change process is automatically controlled by the program. Therefore, the process is relatively concentrated. Process concentration brings huge economic benefits:

⑴ Reduce the footprint of the machine tool and save factory buildings.

⑵ Reduce or eliminate intermediate links (such as intermediate inspection of semi-finished products, temporary storage and transportation, etc.), saving both time and manpower.

Automation

When CNC machine tools are processed, there is no need to manually control the tool, and the degree of automation is high. The benefits are obvious.

⑴ Reduced requirements for operators:

A senior worker of an ordinary machine tool cannot be trained in a short period of time, while a CNC worker who does not need programming can be trained in a very short time (such as a CNC lathe operator only needs one week, and can also write simple machining programs). Moreover, the parts processed by CNC workers on CNC machine tools are more accurate and time-saving than those processed by ordinary workers on traditional machine tools.

⑵ Reduced labor intensity of workers: CNC workers are excluded from the processing process most of the time during the processing, which is very labor-saving.

⑶ Stable product quality: The automation of CNC machine tool processing eliminates human errors such as fatigue, carelessness, and estimation of workers on ordinary machine tools, and improves product consistency.

⑷ High processing efficiency: Automatic tool change of CNC machine tools makes the processing process compact and improves labor productivity.

High flexibility

Traditional general-purpose machine tools, although flexible, are inefficient; and traditional special machines, although highly efficient, have poor adaptability to parts, high rigidity, poor flexibility, and are difficult to adapt to the frequent product modifications brought about by fierce competition in the market economy. As long as the program is changed, new parts can be processed on CNC machine tools, and they can be operated automatically, with good flexibility and high efficiency. Therefore, CNC machine tools can adapt well to market competition.

Strong capabilities: The machine can accurately process a variety of contours, some of which cannot be processed on ordinary machine tools.
