Chemical properties of metal materials used in metal stamping parts

The chemical properties of metal materials refer to the properties that can only be expressed when chemical reactions occur, including oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, chemical stability, etc.

1. Chemical properties. The chemical properties of metal materials refer to the ability of metal materials to resist chemical attack by various corrosive media under room temperature or high temperature conditions, mainly including corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance.

2. Chemical corrosion. It is the result of direct chemical interaction between metal and surrounding medium. It includes two forms of gas corrosion and metal corrosion in non-electrolytic chemical corrosive substances. Its characteristics are: the corrosion process does not generate current, and the corrosion products are deposited on the metal surface.

3. Electrochemical corrosion corrosion. Corrosion caused when metal comes into contact with electrolyte solutions such as acids, alkalis, and salts is called electrochemical corrosion. Its characteristic is that electric current is generated during the corrosion process. The corrosion product (rust) does not cover the metal surface as the anode, but is at a certain distance from the anode metal.

4. General corrosion. This kind of corrosion is evenly distributed on the entire internal and external surfaces of the metal, causing the cross-section to continuously decrease, and eventually destroying the stress-bearing parts.

5. Intergranular corrosion. This kind of corrosion proceeds along the edges of grains inside the metal, usually without causing any changes in the shape of the metal, and often causes sudden damage to equipment or parts.

6. Pointing corrosion. This kind of corrosion is concentrated in a small area on the metal surface, and rapidly develops into the depths, and finally penetrates the metal, which is a relatively harmful corrosion damage.

7. Stress corrosion. It refers to the damage caused by metal in corrosive media under the action of static stress (internal and external stress of metal). This kind of corrosion generally passes through the grains, which is the so-called transgranular corrosion.

8. Corrosion fatigue. It refers to the damage caused by metal in corrosive media under the action of alternating stress. It is also a kind of transgranular corrosion.

9. Antioxidant properties. The ability of metallic materials to resist oxidation at room temperature or high temperature. The oxidation process of metal is actually a form of chemical corrosion. It can be directly expressed by the weight loss of the metal surface after corrosion within a certain period of time, that is, the speed of metal weight loss.
